This cake is made up of multiple layers, one with cake batter another with cocoa cake batter. this cupcake is very soft and spongy and can be prepared without an oven. In this video, I’m going to bake it using a Kadai and a normal gas stove.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Maida
  • 1/2 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tbsp Baking Soda
  • 1 Egg (substitute curd 1/4 cup )
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 tbsp Vanilla essence
  • 1 tbsp Cocoa powder
  • Water as required

Instructions

  1. Take a mixing bowl, keep a stainer on it. Add 1/2 cup maida, 1/2 tbsp baking powder, 1/4 tbsp baking soda. Sieve properly to avoid any lumps. Mix well to avoid bubbles if any. Add 1/2 cup sugar and mix again.

  2. Add 2 tbsp of cooking oil, 1 egg (substitute curd 1/4 cup) and mix well. If the batter is thick, add 2 tbsp of water to adjust the consistency of the batter. Add 1/2 tbsp vanilla essence and mix well.

  3. In a small bowl, add 1 tbsp cocoa powder, 1 tbsp water and mix well to make a paste.

  4. Divide the batter (step 2) between two bowls. Mix the cocoa paste (step 3) in one bowl and keep aside.

  5. Take a frying pan and place a stand in it. Close the lid and preheat for 10 minutes on medium flame.

  6. Meanwhile, take some small bowls. Grease them with oil and dust with maida, so that the cake can be removed perfectly. Add 1 tbsp of cake batter in the bowl. Add the cocoa paste mixed batter (step 4) in the center and make multiple layers so on. Decorate with a toothpick as shown below.

  7. After 10 mins (step 5), place the cake molds in the frying pan and close the lid. Cook on the low flame for 30 to 40 minutes. If you have an oven, then preheat at 140°C and bake in micro convection @140°C for 7 minutes.

  8. After 40 minutes, check whether the cake is baked or not. You can vertically insert a toothpick in the cake. If the batter is non-sticky to your toothpick, then your cake is perfectly cooked. Now allow it to cool for 10 minutes. Remove the cake from the mold using a knife.

  9. Serve and enjoy the multilayer cake.
