This cake is very easy to prepare. This cake is very soft and spongy and can be prepared without an oven. In this video, I’m going to bake it using a Kadai and a normal gas stove.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Maida
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1/2 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tbsp Baking Soda
  • 2 Eggs or Curd 1/2 cup
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla essence

Instructions

  1. Take a mixing bowl. Add 2 eggs or 1/2 cup curd, 1 tbsp vanilla essence and blend well. Add slowly 1/2 cup sugar during blending and make the foam-like batter, add 1/4 cup cooking oil and continue for 1 minute.

  2. Take a bowl and keep a stainer on it. Add 1 cup maida, 1/2 tbsp baking powder, 1/4 tbsp baking soda. Sieve properly to avoid any lumps. Mix well to avoid bubbles if any. Add 1/2 cup milk and mix again for flowing consistency.

  3. Meanwhile, take a cake mold or a bowl. Keep a butter paper and grease it with oil or dust with maida, so that the cake can be removed perfectly. Fill only half of the bowl and shake well to avoid bubbles.

  4. Take a frying pan and place a stand in it. Close the lid and preheat for 10 minutes on medium flame.

  5. After 10 mins (step 4), place the cake mold in the frying pan and close the lid. Cook on the low flame for 30 to 40 minutes. If you have an oven, then preheat at 180°C and bake for 25-30 minutes.

  6. After 40 minutes, check whether the cake is baked or not. You can vertically insert a toothpick in the cake. If the batter is non-sticky to your toothpick, then your cake is perfectly cooked. Now allow it to cool for 10 minutes. Remove the cake from the mold using a knife and peel off the butter paper.

  7. Now, cut the sponge cake into slices.

  8. Yummy and easy sponge cake is ready.

  • Use milk and all liquids kept in room temperature only.
