Ingredients

  • 500 grms fish
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup onion chopped
  • 1 big lemon size tamarind soak 10 minutes in water
  • ¼ cup coriander leaves chopped
  • 4 cloves
  • 10 garlic cloves
  • 1.5 inch ginger chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp red chilli powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander seeds
  • ¼ cup water
  • salt to taste
  • Water as required

Instructions

  1. In a pan add coriander seeds and roast till its colour changes to golden brown on medium flame, then add fenugreek seeds, cumin seeds, cloves and fry, then allow it to cool
  2. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan, add onions and fry till it soften on medium flame
  3. In a jar add roasted spices, ginger, garlic, fried onions, ¼ cup of water and blend into smooth paste
  4. In a mixing bowl add rinsed fish, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, salt to taste, blended paste mix well and coat to fish pieces
  5. Heat oil in a pan, put masala coated fish pieces one by one, keep on medium flame. Flip and cook both sides
  6. Add tamarind juice, adjust the sourness with your taste, and simmer for 5 minutes on medium flame
  7. Then turn off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves, serve with roti, chapati, rice also with ragi ball

Recipe Notes

  • You can adjust sourness as per your taste by reducing or increasing tamarind.
