Ingredients

  • ½ cup dry coconut
  • 1/4 cup maida
  • 1.5 tsp red chilli powder
  • ½ tsp fennel seeds
  • ½ tsp poppy seeds
  • ½ tsp sesame seeds
  • ½ tsp coriander powder
  • ¼ tsp cumin powder
  • ¼ tsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp dry mango powder
  • 1 tbsp hot oil
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ¼ cup besan
  • Salt for taste
  • Oil for deep fry
  • 1 pinch hing
  • water as required to knead

Instructions

  1. In a jar take dry coconut, sesame seeds, sugar, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, fennel seeds, poppy seeds, dry mango powder, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp red chilli powder, salt
  2. Blend into smooth powder
  3. In bowl add besan, maida, ½ tsp red chilli powder, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, salt to taste, hing mix well. Add 1 tbsp hot oil and mix well
  4. Add water in batches knead to smooth dough, cover with wet cloth and rest for 20 minutes
  5. Make the ball of dough, dust the rolling surface roll the dough, it not be so thin
  6. Spread 1 tsp oil on the rolled dough
  7. Spread blended masala on that
  8. Roll tightly and fold the edges
  9. Cut 2 cm long with a knife
  10. Heat oil in a pan, fry all the pieces on medium flame, fry both sides till they turn golden brown
  11. Take out in a kitchen paper serve with tea

Recipe Notes

  • Pouring hot oil over the flour helps to make bhakrwadi crispy & brittle 
  • Bhakrwadi will taste bitter if over fry.
