Ingredients

  • 3 cup Puffed rice
  • 2 onions chopped
  • Coriander leaves few chopped
  • ¼ cup tamarind extract
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 tomato medium size chopped
  • 2 tbsp roasted gram powder
  • 1 tbsp jaggery/gud
  • Sev/mixture
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 green chillies chopped
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • Curry leaves few
  • 4 slitted green chillies
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan fry green chillies for 2 minutes on medium flame, take out put a pinch of salt and keep aside
  2. Heat remaining oil and add mustard cumin seeds curry leaves and allow to splutter
  3. Now add chillies onion and saute well, keep on medium flame, add turmeric powder salt and mix well.

  4. Add tamarind extract and jaggery mix well, boil till the mixture turns thick, off the stove and keep to cool

  5. In a mixing bowl take puffed rice
  6. Add 2 tbsp of girmit masala/curry and mix well
  7. Add roasted gram powder, onion, tomato, coriander leaves 

  8. Give a rough mix and serve immediately along with sev, fried chillies and lemon

Recipe Notes

  • You can store Girmit masala in fridge and enjoy all week long 
  • Serve fried green chilli  along with spicy girmit to enjoy the real taste.
