Ingredients

  • ½ cup fried gram dal
  • ½ cup fresh coconut chopped
  • 4-5 green chillies
  • soaked tamarind
  • 1 inch fresh ginger
  • salt to taste

For Tempering:

  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • 10 Curry leaves
  • 1 dried red chilli
  • 1 pinch hing/asafoetida
  • 1 tsp urad dal
  • 3 tsp oil

Instructions

  1. In a jar add coconut, roasted gram, tamarind, green chillies, curry leaves, ginger, salt, water as required
  2. Grind to smooth cream texture
  3. Take chutney out and keep in a bowl

Tempering:

  1. To prepare tempering, heat oil in a pan add mustard, urad dal, red chilli, curry leaves, pinch of hing and saute till they turn brown
  2. Pour the tempering on chutney, mix and serve
