Ingredients

  • 1 onion medium size chopped
  • 2 tomatoes medium size chopped
  • ½ cup fresh peas
  • 1 cup methi leaves
  • ¼ cup mint leaves
  • 3 green chillies
  • ¼ cup coriander leaves
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp fresh coconut chopped
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1 inch ginger chopped
  • 12-15 garlic cloves
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 3 cloves
  • 1 cardamom
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 cup rice rinse & soak for 20 minutes
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a jar add fresh coconut, ginger, garlic, green chillies, 1 small onion, coriander leaves, mint leaves, ¼ tsp salt, ¼ cup of water and blend to smooth
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves fry for 10 seconds, then add onion keep on high flame and fry for 1 minute
  3. Now add methi leaves, fresh peas keep on medium flame and saute for 2 minutes
  4. Add tomato, turmeric, coriander powder, garam masala, salt mix well and soften the tomato
  5. Now add blended masala, ¼ cup of water and mix well, fry until the raw smell disappears
  6. Add 2 cups of water and allow boil
  7. Add salt if required, then add soaked rice and mix well, cover the lid and cook for 1 whistle
  8. Once the pressure released itself open the lid and mix carefully, serve hot with raita
