Ingredients

  • ½ cup milk powder
  • 3-4 tbsp warm milk
  • 1 tsp ghee / butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp semolina / sooji
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • oil / ghee for deep fry

For syrup:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ tsp cardamom powder
  • 1.5 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

Syrup:

  1. In a pan add sugar, water and simmer for 5 minutes on medium flame. then  add lemon juice, cardamom powder, turn off the flame and cover the lid, keep aside

Jamun:

  1. In a mixing bowl add milk powder, all-purpose flour, sooji, baking soda, 1 tsp lemon juice, 1 tsp ghee and crumble well
  2. Add warm milk little by little and knead softly
  3. Make small jamun balls without forming any cracks
  4. Heat ghee or oil in a pan, put jamuns one by one in the hot oil, keep on low flame and fry jamuns till its colour changes to golden brown
  5. Take out the fried jamuns and put into the hot sugar syrup, cover the lid and rest for 2 hours, then serve

Recipe Notes

  • Adding lemon juice to the syrup, is because it does not crystallises the syrup
