Ingredients

  • 1 cup maida
  • ¼ cup rice flour
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • few coriander leaves chopped
  • ½ tsp cooking soda
  • 1 tsp ginger chopped
  • 1 green chilli
  • oil for deep fry
  • 1.5 glass butter milk
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Make paste of green chilli and ginger, keep aside
  2. In a mixing bowl add maida, rice flour, cumin, cooking soda, coriander leaves, chilli-garlic paste and salt to taste and mix well
  3. Add butter milk in batches and make thick batter, mix well and make sure that no lumps are formed. Cover the lid and rest it for 30 minutes, if you don’t have time keep at least for 10 minutes

  4. Heat oil in a deep kadai, do not use flat base pan because to get good shape of bonda
  5. Dip your hand in water and scoop out the batter
  6. Slowly push the batter to drop into the hot oil, stir occasionally, fry bondas on medium flame
  7. Fry till mysore bonda turns golden brown
  8. Immediately drain off the bondas onto the kitchen towel to remove excess oil
  9. Serve hot mysore bonda with coconut chutney

Recipe Notes

  • You can also use curd as an alternative to butter milk
