Ingredients

  • 5 medium size onions chopped
  • 1 cup besan / gram flour
  • 2 tbsp rice flour
  • 2 green chillies chopped
  • ½ carom seeds
  • few curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp hot oil
  • 1 pinch baking soda
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl add chopped onions, salt and sqweeze the onions
  2. Now add green chilli, curry leaves, carom seeds, red chilli powder and combine well
  3. Add baking soda, rice flour, and add besan flour batch by batch, and combine well, then add 2 tbsp water, mix well
  4. Now add hot oil and mix well
  5. Heat oil in a pan for frying, drop and spread small ball sized pakoda, keep on medium flame
  6. Flip and stir, cook all the sides
  7. Add curry leaves in the pan and fry for few seconds with the pakoda to get good flavour
  8. Once the pakoda turns to golden colour and crispy, take out from the oil and serve hot for tea time and with breakfast as sidedish

Recipe Notes

  • You can use cumin seeds instead of carom seeds.
  • Add hot oil and rice flour to make pakoda more crispy.
