Ingredients

  • ½ cup fresh coconut chopped
  • 4 byadagi red chillies
  • 1 onion medium size chopped
  • Some tamarind soaked
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 pinch hing/asafoetida
  • salt to taste
  • water as required

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan add hing and red chillies, roast on medium flame until they turn brittle
  2. In a jar add coconut, onion, garlic, tamarind, roasted red chillies, ½ cup water, salt to taste
  3. Now blend to smooth paste
  4. Serve with idli, dosa or rice

Recipe Notes

  • You can use either dry red chilies or red chilly powder.
  • It also tastes great when you serve with rice.
